Fall Activities at Ski Santa Fe | Saturdays and Sundays through October 11
Before the snow flies, Ski Santa Fe opens up its slopes for a different kind of adventure. The Santa Fe Express High-Speed Quad carries riders up to Upper Broadway, offering sweeping views of the aspens turning gold across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It’s one of the most scenic ways to take in fall color anywhere near the city.
Once you’re back down, settle in at the beer garden and enjoy live music with mountain views as your backdrop. It’s a laid-back way to spend a weekend afternoon before the higher elevations turn wintery.
New Mexico Sacred Harp Convention | October 3-4
This weekend gathering celebrates Sacred Harp, a traditional American style of four-part a cappella singing performed from shape-note songbooks. Singers gather in a hollow square and sing together loudly and communally, with no auditions or prior experience required, making it a genuinely open and welcoming event for newcomers and longtime singers alike.
The convention is free and spans several days: a regular Thursday evening sing, a Friday singing school, and full days of singing Saturday and Sunday at Montezuma Lodge, complete with a midday meal served on the grounds and social gatherings each evening. Loaner songbooks are available, so you can show up empty-handed and still take part, even if you only want to stop by for an hour or simply listen.
Santa Fe Farmers’ Market | Saturdays in October
Start your weekend the Santa Fe way at one of the most celebrated growers’ markets in the country. Local farmers and producers from across Northern New Mexico line up in the Railyard each Saturday morning, offering everything from just-picked produce to fresh-baked goods and regional specialties. It’s a beloved weekly ritual for locals looking to stock up on seasonal ingredients while soaking in the community atmosphere.
Bring a tote bag, grab a coffee, and plan to spend a little longer than you intended browsing the stalls. Autumn is peak season for chile, squash, and apples, so this is a great time to load up.
Santa Fe Harvest Festival | October 3-4
For more than fifty years, El Rancho de Las Golondrinas has welcomed the community to celebrate the season with one of its most beloved annual traditions. This two-day festival brings the historic ranch grounds to life with hands-on activities rooted in New Mexico heritage, from tying red chile ristras to stomping grapes at the old winery.
Families can wander the pumpkin patch, take a hayride, and explore corn husk art demonstrations, while adults can sample regional beers and wines between visits to local artisan booths. Live music rounds out the weekend, blending contemporary sounds with the historical backdrop of the ranch. Food trucks, tents, and the on-site café keep everyone fed as they take in the golden cottonwoods and centuries of history on display.
